Degradable BOPP Film

Introduction

Guolene Green (degradable BOPP film) is the first of its kind in the world to be totally degradable. It can be disposed off in landfill without any adverse environmental effect. Also, it can be recycled or incinerated. This innovative degradable BOPP film has generated a significant commercial interest globally.

Degradation Mechanism

Degradation of this type of BOPP film starts after an induction period, which corresponds to the product serviceable life. It can be controlled upon customer request. Unlike bio-degradable materials, degradation of Guolene Green is initiated by light (especially ultra-violet), thermal or a combination of both through radical reaction in severing the carbon-carbon backbone of the polymer chain. Once broken down into small fragments, published literature has claimed that micro-organisms can then convert them to water and carbon dioxide to complete the total product life cycle.
